Daylesford: Organic Farm Gloucestershire

Sometimes there's no need to overplan a day trip outside the chaos of the city, especially if your main goal is to have a lovely lunch at Daylesford Farm, Gloucestershire. What you need to do is to reach Moreton-in-Marsh or Kingham in the beautiful Cotswold area and then head Daylesford Farm! Great location and building in the middle of a breathtaking countryside, amazing interiors and lovely organic products in such a great country chic atmosphere
The restaurant offers a nice choice of really curious courses and do not hesitate, everything will taste delicious anyway!
And of course, right after, we spent some time in the market where total excitement begins. A great place where to go to buy Christmas presents and unique breads, soups, cheeses, jams, chutneys, chocolates, candles, plants and much more.

Thank you Daylesford staff, you totally made our day!

Fried Eggplants and Cherry Tomatoes Pasta

Hey Taylor! You could make this pasta with the spaghetti I gave you! Fry small slices of eggplant, then heat up some cherry tomatoes in a pan and squish them. Then, put the fried eggplant in the sauce you get with the tomatoes. Add oil, salt, maybe some oregano and a yummy sauce is ready! Enjoy!

Montebianco: a typical Christmas dessert!

Montebianco (White Mountain) is probably from France, but it is quite common in the North-West of Italy too. Mushed chestnuts with sugar and rum topped with whipped cream and cocoa (sometimes). I had to take a picture of this during the Christmas lunch, isn't it funny?

Aubergine Pie

Here it is my last delicious pie! I got the recipe from the grandma of my best friend and she is just great at cooking. Brisée dough, fried eggplant and béchamel sauce with parmesan on top: so good! It takes quite a bit to do it, I bought the dough and made the rest. You can actually buy bechamel sauce and then you would just need to fry the eggplants...well home made bechamel sauce is way better and it is really easy to make: 1lt of milk, 100gr flour, 100gr butter, salt and nutmeg. Mmmm! Enjoy!

Food Design @ Le lieu du design

I was more than a year ago when I visited this exposition about Food Design at Le lieu du design. I found the picture of the chocolate disk and it reminded me of a beautiful opening. The whole courtyard was packed with people and they were serving french cheese, simple or ''contemporary'' interpretations of it. Beautiful place to see in Paris!

Taeko: a real japanese restaurant at ''Le marché des enfants rouges''

Hidden in the 3rd arrondissement in Paris, between Temple and Boulevard Beaumarchais, there is a covered market: Le marché des enfants rouges (Red children's market). Built in 1615, it supplied the close Marais. The neighbours decided this name in memory of the orphans who lived in the orphanage of the close square that used to wear red clothes as a sign of charity. In 1982 became an historical monument for Paris.
The market in a meltin' pot of cultures and you can have italian, lebanese, french, moroccan and japanese food. We went for japanese food because some friends told us it is one of the best in town. Such a lovely place where to have lunch, relaxed in the shade of the market and surrounded by smells from all over the world. I would definitely suggest to there, because you can actually taste a unique japanese cuisine: simple, tasty and delicious.

Del Popolo

Del Popolo mobile pizzeria isn't your everyday pizza delivery.  Designed by Jon Darsky, Del Popolo means 'of the people' and he wanted to bring great pizza to the people in a fun, exciting, new way. The design of this high functioning kitchen on wheels was built to showcase the the sheer joy of watching the craftsmanship and preparation of a perfect stone cooked pizza being made before you're eyes instead of waiting outside a hatch! Amazing to think of the possibilities that lie inside a transatlantic shipping container!

Jihyun Ryou

An egg has millions of holes in its shell. It absorbs the odour and substance around itself very easily. This creates a bad taste if it’s kept in the fridge with other food ingredients. This shelf provides a place for eggs outside of the fridge. Also the freshness of eggs can be tested in the water. The fresher they are, the further they sink.

Keeping roots in a vertical position allows the organism to save energy and remain fresh for a longer time. This shelf gives a place for them to stand easily, using sand. At the same time, sand helps to keep the proper humidity.

Wow! This is cool! I would totally buy some of these for my house. These are just two of five shelves she has designed. Very simple, still usefull and appealing. Next, how she describes her work:
"Observing the food and therefore changing the notion of food preservation, we could find the answer to current situations such as the overuse of energy and food wastage. My design is a tool to implement that knowledge in a tangible way and slowly it changes the bigger picture of society. I believe that once people are given a tool that triggers their minds and requires a mental effort to use it, new traditions and new rituals can be introduced into our culture."

Check out these Bakery's

Not your everyday Cobbs Bread... these bakery's are a notch up!  They are the bread and butter of.... well bread and butter!  It's so refreshing to see a new take on something that is often over looked.  In Vancouver we have a divine chocolate patisserie called Thomas Haas but before discovering this jem I never thought about bakery's in the same light.  To often bakery's are a place with little attention to architectureal detail and design with a stronger focus on showcasing the product.  But so the bakery rise begins.  I came across these spots via cabbage rose  and they are making me crave great design... and maybe a tart! Andrea check out VyTA boulangerie Italiana, next time you are in Turin!  yum!

Let's Spoon

Designed by aisssalogerot this clever chopstick/spoon is so damn smart!  and the packaging is pretty stellar as well.

They draw and cook

You will love this website!! The topic is ''illustrated recipes''. It is plenty of drawn recipes that you can easily find by searching between the meal type, ingredients and illustration styles! Some of them are just beautiful! If I had enough space I would print them out in thick cards and make a box and I would hang the ones I have to make in vintage frames and change them as soon as you try them! I'm totally in love with this website. You have to have a look and you should give it a try! Why don't you draw for me your favourite recipe? Don't worry, I'm so busy that I wouldn't have the time if you asked me!
