1996 by Byredo

I have to say that this time Ben Gorham, nose and founder of Byredo, has surprised me! Together with the Dutch photographers couple Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin he has created 1996 Inez & Vinoodh.

''Inspired by one of their images, Kirsten-1996 (seen below), the letter accompanying the original limited edition of the fragrance explained,"Ben Gorham of Byredo has captured the multilayered essence of this image and our life together in this unique scent." (fragrantica.com)

1996 Inez & Vinoodh immediately reminded me of powdery bees wax. The opening is slightly fruity with a hint of juniper berry, which suddenly evolves to a powdery and creamy heart where orris and violet mix in a lovely way with amber and a leather accord. The sillage is amazing and the drydown is definitely lovely. A powdery soft and warm mix of vanilla and ambery notes which gain an interesting rasp together with the patchouli.

This is hands down one of my favorites for this season!
